“Alcohol is the number one popular drug in Germany. Beer has always been the most common alcoholic beverage, even though consumption has been falling since the 1980s. The popularity of wine, however, has remained consistently high since then. Germany ranks 8th worldwide in alcohol consumption. This makes the country a “high-consumption country” according to the German Center for Addiction Issues (DHS).”
