Germany’s 10th Aktionswoche Alkohol started on 13 June and runs until 21 June 2026. Organised by the Deutsche Hauptstelle für Suchtfragen (DHS), the nationwide prevention campaign is held under the motto “Entdecke, wie viel mehr in dir steckt, mit weniger oder ganz ohne Alkohol”, inviting people to discover what they may gain by drinking less, or not drinking at all.
The campaign highlights that a more conscious approach to alcohol is not about loss, but about health, self-determination and quality of life. With more than 900 actions and events across Germany, Aktionswoche Alkohol brings this discussion into communities, workplaces, schools, health settings and public spaces, through information stands, discussions, health days, readings, concerts and creative participatory activities.
The press release also underlines the health and social harms linked to alcohol. Germany’s Federal Commissioner for Addiction and Drug Issues, Prof. Dr. Hendrik Streeck, points to alcohol’s role in cancer, cardiovascular disease, dependence and family burden, while stressing that the campaign does not moralise, but informs and helps people recognise risks earlier.
DHS also connects the campaign to the wider need for evidence-based alcohol prevention. Alongside information and personal reflection, the press release refers to the WHO SAFER goals and to structural measures such as limiting availability, price adjustments and advertising bans. In that sense, Aktionswoche Alkohol is not only a personal invitation to rethink drinking, but also part of a broader effort to change how society relates to alcohol.
