This year The departmental council of Tarn (France) is joining forces with the month of January without alcohol or “Dry January”.
One month without alcohol can significantly reduce blood pressure, cholesterol levels, the risk of diabetes and see benefits for the functioning of the body.
The “Dry January” is also a reminder that alcohol consumption during pregnancy can hinder the development of the fetus and change the course of pregnancy, thus causing permanent damage to the baby and impacting the life of the unborn child.
It is recommended that you refrain from consuming alcohol as soon as you plan to become pregnant and throughout pregnancy, regardless of the type, amount or frequency of consumption.”

In 2021, a YouGov poll found that 11% of the French population would take part in the January challenge and abstain from drinking alcohol.
More people will be able to take on the challenge in 2022, thanks to support from several large cities that have joined the January Challenge movement, such as Paris, Brest, Lyon, Nantes, Grenoble and even Toulouse.
