This video by HESSISCHE LANDESSTELLE FÜR SUCHTFRAGEN E.V. (HLS) explains in 90 seconds why even small amounts of alcohol are dangerous during pregnancy and which risks and consequences alcohol consumption in pregnancy brings to the unborn child.
“Alcohol consumption during pregnancy can have a significant impact on child health and development. Alcohol is a cell poison that passes freely through the maternal blood through the placental barrier and can cause serious and permanent damage to the unborn. The resulting diseases are summarized under the term fetal alcohol spectrum disorder (FASD). If alcohol is strictly avoided during pregnancy, FASD can be avoided one hundred percent.”
