“Under the motto “Alcohol is not your best friend” The Solidarity Fund for Health (FOSALUD), launched a campaign to prevent the harmful consumption of alcohol, which seeks to promote reflection in the Salvadoran population on the pressures suffered by adolescents and young people to start use of alcohol at a young age.
According to data from the Third National Survey on the Consumption of Psychoactive Substances in the School Population, 2016, conducted by the National Anti-Drug Commission (CNA), together with the National Institute of Health (INS), the Ministry of Health (MINSAL) and the Ministry of Education (MINED), the average age of onset of alcohol consumption in students is 13 years. The highest use of alcoholic beverages occurs between 15 and 16 years.”
