“Over the festive season, there is an increase in alcohol-related presentations to the Emergency Department. Many of these accidents and injuries can be avoided by reducing alcohol intake.
Leading up to the summer break, Counties Manukau Health is encouraging staff to have conversations about alcohol with patients and spread the message: “ease up on the drink”. From the 3rd to the 9th of December, activities during the “Alcohol Harm Awareness Week” in Middlemore Hospital will promote the benefits of drinking less over the holidays.”
