“In El Salvador, an average of 63 accidents, 3 deaths and 27 injuries caused by traffic accidents are recorded daily, according to data from the National Civil Police (PNC).
In low and middle income countries, a range between 33% and 69% of drivers who died had ingested alcohol. Similarly, between 8% and 29% of the injured drivers had also consumed intoxicating beverages, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
In El Salvador there is no record that strictly links traffic accidents with alcoholism because the victims are not sampled for blood alcohol concentration to know if the injuries were the result of the influence of alcohol.”
