Greek insurance association launches campaign against drink-driving

The Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies has launched a new awareness campaign against driving under the influence of alcohol, with the aim of preventing alcohol-related road crashes and reducing deaths on Greek roads. The campaign comes as road safety remains a public concern in Greece, and focuses on prevention, safer choices and the responsibility shared by drivers, friends, authorities and wider society.

The campaign’s central message is “Αν απόψε φύγεις, να φτάσεις”, which can be translated as “If you leave tonight, make sure you arrive.” It highlights the moment before the journey home, when a simple decision can become decisive. Rather than speaking only to the driver, the campaign places special emphasis on the role of friends and groups, reminding young people that getting home safely is also part of the night out.

The campaign features Marseaux, one of the most popular artists among the younger generation in Greece, together with composer and lyricist dPans. Through a contemporary and emotional approach, the campaign film encourages friends to look after one another and not leave the journey home to chance or casual excuses. The material is being shown on television, in cinemas and on social media, with a particular focus on reaching younger audiences.

Speaking to MEGA, Sandra Kokkonetsi, Head of Communications and Public Relations at the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies, said the goal is to prevent traffic accidents and reduce fatalities. She stressed that road safety is an issue the association will continue to address “as long as we continue losing young people on the roads.” The association also underlined that its role goes beyond providing insurance after accidents, and includes contributing actively to prevention, public awareness and a stronger culture of responsible behaviour on the road.
