Alcohol and drugs play a role in 13% of serious accidents (with fatalities and serious injuries) in Brussels. The use of certain substances is a problematic “trend”: in 2020, 14% of Brussels drivers under the age of 34, for example, claimed to inhale laughing gas at least once / month before driving the car (source: Vias). This is a startling finding, which leads Brussels Mobility to tackle driving under the influence in all its forms!
