Professor David Nutt is probably one of the most controversial and well-known alcohol experts in the world. His study and a famous graph, from 10 years back, is perhaps the most shared scientific graphs on alcohol, ever. He shows that alcohol is actually the most dangerous drug in our societies. And here is where the controversial part begins. When you say that something is more dangerous, you also say that something is less harmful. Where does that message go? “David Nutt is an English neuropsychopharmacologist who specialises in the research of drugs that affect the brain and conditions such as addiction, anxiety, and sleep. Until 2009, he was a professor at the University of Bristol heading their Psychopharmacology Unit. Since then he has been the Edmond J Safra chair in Neuropsychopharmacology at Imperial College London and director of the Neuropsychopharmacology Unit in the Division of Brain Sciences there.”
