“Ella sits in a tired gym. She should not have been here – she should have been home, with her family and eaten Christmas dinner. There are other children around her in the ring. Ella gets up and says the words she has never said before:
“My name is Ella and I have an alcohol problem.”
The scene is well known, it is portrayed in a number of films. The AA meeting where people with alcohol problems give each other the strength to resist drinking. But it’s not Ella who drinks. It’s dad. And that’s her problem. Especially now in December.”
