With Health, We All Win

The Pan American Health Organization has launched “With Health, We All Win,” a public health campaign connected to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The campaign offers practical recommendations for people travelling to Canada, Mexico, or the United States, as well as for those joining large public gatherings in their own countries. Its focus is broad, covering vaccination, food safety, heat protection, respiratory infections, mosquito-borne diseases, crowd safety, mental health, and reliable health information.

A particularly important part of the campaign is its advice to celebrate without alcohol. The materials state clearly that any alcohol consumption carries risk. In the context of the World Cup, this risk becomes even more relevant because matches and public celebrations will take place during hot summer months. Alcohol speeds up dehydration, makes it harder to recognise early signs of heat stroke, and can have negative effects when mixed with other substances or medications. The campaign also reminds people that alcohol significantly impairs the ability to drive, including cars, motorcycles, and bicycles.

“With Health, We All Win” frames health as something shared. Looking after oneself also helps protect others in crowded places, during travel, and in public celebrations. For football fans, the campaign is a reminder that enjoying the World Cup safely is not only about avoiding illness or injury, but also about making choices that reduce risks for everyone around us. Avoiding alcohol is presented as the best option for health and safety during the tournament.
