FCB, Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency, and MBM have initiated a campaign to provide a more realistic representation of the dangers and consequences of drunk driving. The campaign addresses the distinction between being a ‘drink driver’ and a ‘drunk driver’, encouraging individuals who drink beyond the legal limit to see themselves as the latter. Lauren Cooke, National Manager of Education and Marketing at Waka Kotahi, emphasized that the campaign, ‘There’s more to lose than your licence,’ invites New Zealanders to consider the broader social repercussions of their actions. Despite ongoing efforts, alcohol-impaired driving remains a significant issue in New Zealand. As part of the Government’s ‘Road to Zero’ strategy, the campaign aims to prioritise safety, mitigating deaths and severe injuries from crashes.
