“No promil, no problem!”

The Polish campaign “No promil, no problem!” has returned for its 17th edition in Wolbrom, once again putting the focus on sober driving and road safety. Running from 4 to 6 March 2026 across all nine educational institutions in the municipality, the initiative combines prevention, education and community action. Police officers from the road traffic department in Olkusz are taking part in sobriety checks, while pupils, together with teachers and police, are distributing educational materials to drivers.

What makes the campaign stand out is that it goes beyond a simple awareness action. It is part of a broader civic programme in Małopolska involving 20 municipalities, 4 NGOs, 80 adults and 480 youth leaders. Through trainings, school workshops, local initiatives and public outreach, the campaign aims not only to warn about the dangers of drink driving, but also to strengthen civic engagement, cooperation and responsibility for the common good. In total, the project is expected to involve more than 2,400 students directly and reach at least 3,000 residents through workshops, declarations, leaflets, posters and other educational activities.

The campaign is built on the idea that safer roads depend not only on enforcement, but also on active local communities. By involving young people in planning and carrying out school and municipal initiatives, “No promil, no problem!” seeks to build long term social change, encouraging intervention when laws are broken and showing that citizens can shape the safety of their own environment. In that sense, the project is both a road safety campaign and a lesson in democratic participation, rooted in cooperation between schools, local authorities, NGOs and families.
