In February and March 2026, Santé publique France is relaunching its campaign “C’est la base”, aimed at strengthening simple risk reduction reflexes among young people during nights out. The idea is straightforward. There are basic actions that can prevent serious harm linked to alcohol and drugs, and they often depend less on rules and more on friends looking out for each other. The campaign focuses on practical, real life situations that many young people will recognise immediately.
The video spots show these “base” reflexes in action. Calling emergency services, 18 for firefighters or 15 for SAMU, when a friend loses consciousness. Letting a friend sleep over if they are no longer in a state to get home safely. Encouraging friends to drink less rather than pushing another round. Staying close to someone who is unwell instead of leaving them alone. The tone is direct and relatable, built around everyday party scenes that shift quickly from fun to risk, and back to solidarity.
Alongside this, the campaign partners with Konbini to reach young audiences through social media formats. Influencer led “coaching” videos on saying no to alcohol and dealing with social pressure add a lighter, ironic touch, while still delivering a clear message. The playlist “C’est la base” is available on the Alcool Info Service channel, reinforcing the link between prevention, credible information, and accessible support. It is a reminder that prevention does not always start with policy, sometimes it starts with the most basic decision in the moment: take care of your friend.
