Knarka – a raw Swedish audio drama revealing the real stories behind addiction

“Knarka” is a new Swedish audio drama series that dives deep into the realities behind drug and alcohol use. Produced by Studieförbundet NBV in collaboration with Våra Gårdar, Blåbandsungdom, and the Narkotikapolitiskt Center, the six-part series is based on real events and gives listeners a cinematic experience through sound. Each episode tells a different story of addiction, co-dependence, and recovery, moving from moments of euphoria and curiosity to loss, chaos, and the struggle to find a way back.

Through powerful performances by actors Anton Forsdik and Maya den Engelse and a script by Nina Stenberg, the series explores drugs such as cocaine, GHB, ketamine, and tramadol, as well as alcohol and drug-induced psychosis. The stories feel personal and raw, showing how quickly experimentation can turn into dependence and how every decision leaves a mark. “Knarka” isn’t about moralizing, it’s about understanding the thin lines between escape and destruction, love and loss, freedom and addiction.

NBV and its partners created this project to spark honest conversations about one of society’s most pressing issues. “Knarka” invites listeners to reflect and talk about what lies behind the rush, especially among young people. The full series is now available wherever podcasts are found.
