Police Scotland and the Scottish Government have launched a campaign to crack down on drink and drug-driving during the festive season. With 831 offences recorded last year during the same period, the campaign sends a clear message: it’s easy to get caught, and the risks are simply not worth it. Running across radio, digital and outdoor media, the campaign is backed by PR, social media and field activity to amplify its reach.
The campaign reminds drivers that even one drink can put you over the limit, and you might still be over the next morning. If caught drink-driving, you face a minimum 12-month ban, a fine of up to ÂŁ5,000 and up to six months in prison. Similarly, roadside drug tests are now a routine part of policing, and with nearly 50% of these tests coming back positive, enforcement is real and increasing.
The campaign’s visual materials and messaging are direct and hard-hitting, focused on the life-changing consequences of impaired driving. Drugs and alcohol don’t just slow your reaction time, they destroy lives. Road Safety Scotland encourages everyone to share the campaign materials and help spread awareness through social media using the hashtag #ArriveAlive.
Partners, community organisations and individuals are also invited to take part. Whether by sharing posts, providing a personal story, or acting as a local spokesperson, your involvement can make a real difference.
