The Danish Health Authority is running a new summer campaign against opioids and other drugs. The campaign is part of the government’s initiative Youth Without Opioids and will be rolled out at nine festivals, including Roskilde Festival.
This year’s Roskilde Festival will feature a visit from the Health Authority’s new campaign effort aimed at helping young people say no to drugs.
Most young people go to festivals without using drugs, and we want to support them in keeping it that way. That’s why the campaign message is: There’s no such thing as a bad no to drugs. Festival-goers will encounter the campaign on digital screens, social media, banners, and in the camping areas, where campaign ‘No Patrols’ walk around and engage in conversations about drugs, boundaries, and community. They also hand out temporary No tattoos – a concept that proved highly popular at Jelling Festival earlier this summer.
“We know that when many young people gather in one place, a kind of bubble can form, where they feel invincible and may be tempted to try something they normally wouldn’t. But with drugs – especially opioids – the consequences can be serious and long-lasting. You can’t just say ‘what happens at Roskilde stays at Roskilde’ when it comes to drugs. That’s why we’re here to support young people in saying no – in whatever way feels right for them,” says Jonas Egebart, Director of the Danish Health Authority.
This festival initiative is part of the government’s Youth Without Opioids strategy, and the Health Authority is running the campaign in collaboration with nine festivals from May to August: Aalborg Carnival, Jelling Festival, Skive Festival, Nord-Als Music Festival, Vig Festival, Kløften Festival, Bork Festival, Wonderfestiwall and Roskilde Festival. The 2025 experiences will be used to expand and strengthen the effort in 2026 and 2027.
The campaign is developed in collaboration with Roskilde Festival and Dansk Live, the interest organization for festivals and concert venues.
The ‘No Patrols’ will be present at Roskilde Festival from Sunday to Friday. On Tuesday, the Health Authority’s Director, Jonas Egebart, will join one of the patrols.
