Elda launches campaign to prevent alcohol and drug abuse and promote safe sex

The Elda City Council in Spain has launched a new campaign to prevent alcohol abuse, drug use, and promote safe sex during the Moros y Cristianos festival. Organized by the Department of Health in collaboration with the Youth and Social Welfare departments, the initiative is called ‘Nos comprometemos con Fiesta Sana’ and focuses especially on young people in Elda. The campaign aims to raise awareness of the dangers associated with substance use and unprotected sex, emphasizing the importance of celebrating in a healthy and responsible way.

Throughout the festival, immediate healthcare points will be set up in strategic areas, with additional ambulances and mobile teams from the Red Cross and Civil Protection available. The campaign also features educational materials and the distribution of condoms at key locations, such as festival headquarters and cuartelillos. Special information points, including Puntos Violeta and Arco Iris, will provide resources and support to help everyone enjoy the festival safely and free from incidents.

The organizers highlight the importance of preventing underage drinking, protecting personal safety, and promoting mutual care. They encourage young people to enjoy their sexuality freely but responsibly, reminding them that condoms are the best defense against sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies. The campaign seeks to create a festive atmosphere where health, respect, and freedom are the priorities, ensuring that all attendees can celebrate Moros y Cristianos with peace of mind.
