The teaching material ANDTS på schemat (ANDTS on the schedule) has been relaunched. It is designed to support teachers in educating students about alcohol, narcotics, doping, tobacco, and gambling. The launch takes place during a meeting for student health staff in Norrköping.
The material is entirely digital and designed to integrate education on alcohol, narcotics, doping, tobacco, and gambling (ANDTS) into school subjects. It is primarily aimed at teachers in middle school, secondary school, and upper secondary school but can also be used by other adults working with young people. ANDTS på schemat is developed by CAN (The Swedish Council for Information on Alcohol and Other Drugs).
“The teaching material is based on prevention knowledge from the Public Health Agency’s publications and is aligned with the curricula for compulsory and upper secondary school. It is created by teachers, for teachers, and is completely free of charge,” says Tommy Chau, project manager for ANDTS på schemat at CAN.
This new version of ANDTS på schemat includes the topic of gambling, an issue that has recently become part of the government’s prevention policy.
“Many teachers have requested support for teaching about gambling, which has become more common among young people. This also applies to new nicotine products,” says Tommy Chau.
The material is now also adapted for middle school, secondary school, and upper secondary school. Additionally, it has been made more user-friendly and accessible.
“But most importantly, the material makes it easier for teachers to provide ANDTS education, freeing up valuable time for other tasks,” says Tommy Chau.
Ida Persson Tiborson, a social sustainability strategist and ANDTS coordinator in Norrköping Municipality, adds:
“ANDTS på schemat is a highly welcomed tool for raising awareness and implementing preventive measures in our schools in Norrköping. It provides excellent support for subject teachers to address and work with issues related to alcohol, narcotics, doping, tobacco, and gambling, contributing to a safer and more aware school environment.”
