Driving is no Different

Transport Malta has launched a “Don’t Drink and Drive” campaign to highlight the dangers of driving under the influence of alcohol. This initiative, introduced in December 2023, aims to heighten road users’ awareness of the significant risks associated with impaired driving, especially during the festive season. Transport Malta CEO Jonathan Borg stressed the campaign’s critical timing and urged the public to refrain from consuming alcohol if they plan to drive. The campaign is backed by a coalition of influential entities, including the Malta Road Safety Council, the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Directorate, and the ministries responsible for transport and health. This broad support emphasizes the necessity of a unified approach to tackling the multifaceted issue of drunk driving.

In addition to addressing the immediate dangers of drunk driving, Transport Malta’s winter campaign is part of a larger effort to instill a sense of responsibility and mindfulness among road users. It seeks to educate the public on the importance of treating driving with the same seriousness and attention as any other critical operation. The campaign’s core message is that responsible driving choices are crucial to ensuring everyone’s road safety. By encouraging individuals to make informed decisions and prioritize the well-being of all road users, Transport Malta aims to foster a culture of safe driving practices that extend beyond the holiday season, reinforcing road safety as a vital part of everyday life.
