Awareness toolkit on alcohol consumption during pregnancy
Receiving inappropriate or unsolicited information about alcohol consumption during pregnancy can cause anxiety, guilt, anger, or shame. These reactions can hinder prevention and support efforts. For this reason, it’s important to use the various tools at the right time and with the right audience.
This toolkit gathers awareness tools designed as part of the FASD project: discussing to better act and specifies the suggested use.
Information at the right time
Tools aimed at public spaces seek to spark curiosity to learn more and to open up conversations. When individuals have confirmed that they want the information, more comprehensive tools are offered.
Detailed tools can also be used when a resource person presents the tool and is available to answer questions or make referrals as needed.
Information for the right audience
These FASD prevention tools inform about the risks of alcohol during pregnancy. They were not designed for pregnant women who have consumed alcohol or those living with an alcohol-related disorder.
However, the tools can still be used with them, under supervision, according to the judgment of care and intervention teams.
