True or Gammon: FASD

“True or Gammon: FASD” is a video series produced by the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress, focusing on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD). This series aims to debunk myths and present factual information about the effects of alcohol consumption during pregnancy. The key message is clear and uncompromising: drinking alcohol while pregnant is never safe for the baby.

The first episode features Camille and Tahnee, who discuss the serious implications of consuming ‘grog’ during pregnancy. They emphasize that alcohol, as a depressant, disrupts the communication between the brain and the body, altering thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Even small amounts of alcohol can be extremely harmful, particularly to the developing brain of a fetus.

The series highlights the importance of complete abstinence from alcohol for those planning to have a baby or who are already pregnant, as the only safe course of action. “True or Gammon: FASD” serves as an educational tool, aiming to raise awareness about the dangers of alcohol consumption during pregnancy and its long-term effects on children’s health and development.
