Saturation Saturday

Saturation Saturday is an initiative by Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to prevent impaired driving and reduce drunk driving fatalities. The campaign involves increased law enforcement patrols and sobriety checkpoints during the week leading to Labor Day, which is a busy travel period with high rates of alcohol consumption. The campaign also aims to raise public awareness and education about the dangers and consequences of drunk driving.

“MADD California State Executive Director Pat Rillera said, “We want our community members to understand that it’s our first priority to keep people safe, so we’re asking everyone to plan ahead if they know they’ll be out drinking.” Pasadena Now

MADD CEO Stacey D. Stewart commented, “Since 2018, we have seen a 27% increase in deaths caused by drunk driving, and the number rises as we head toward Labor Day weekend. This ‘Saturation Saturday’ and every day, MADD works closely with law enforcement to stop drunk driving, which is a 100% preventable crime.” Fergus Now
