Let’s talk alcohol

This learning module was developed by UNICEF in collaboration with the UNICEF-AstraZeneca Young Health Programme Young Leaders. The Young Health Programme (YHP) is a global initiative that aims to prevent the most common non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as cancer, diabetes, heart disease, respiratory disease, and mental ill health. The program combines community programs, research, and advocacy and supports the development of young leaders.

This page is about a series of online activities called Hi-5 For Health, which aims to help youth connect, learn, and take action on health topics. The first topic is alcohol and tobacco, which are two substances that can harm our physical and mental health, especially during adolescence.

The module provides various resources and information to help youth understand the effects of alcohol and tobacco on their bodies and brains, as well as the influences that may encourage them to use these substances. It also offers tips and strategies to help youth resist peer pressure and avoid drinking and smoking.

The artwork for this module was created by Vania Dhianisya and Njung’e Wanjiru. Vania Dhianisya is an artist from Jakarta whose art is a mixture of joy, optimism, self-love messages, and cheekiness. Njung’e Wanjiru is a Kenyan illustrator, animator, and filmmaker who tells stories that revolve around social issues and community development while uplifting voices that often remain unheard. Together, their artwork helps to support the vision of the UNICEF-AstraZeneca Young Health Programme Young Leaders for a healthier future.
