“On top of the stresses that come with being a college student — adjusting to life on campus, high-level schoolwork and new social circles — student-athletes face a host of other demands and pressures that come with competing at an elite athletics program like Texas.
According to data from the American College Health Association’s National College Health Assessment, student-athletes are more likely to engage in binge drinking than their non-athlete counterparts, less likely to report experiencing symptoms of depression and anxiety, and less likely to seek help if needed.”
