Those who drink do not drive

Alcohol compromises the ability to drive. A glass of an alcoholic beverage is enough to reduce the ability to drive (eg reaction time, perception, etc.). From 0.25 mg / l the risk of a fatal accident doubles. Furthermore, accidents due to alcohol are twice as severe as other types of accidents.

They cause about 1/8 of all deaths and serious injuries on the roads in Switzerland, they occur mostly at night in accidents due to their own fault. Especially the weekend. Especially men, young adults and regular consumers of alcoholic beverages exceeding the legal limit of 0.25 milligrams per liter.

One-fifth of all driver’s license revocations are due to inexplicable driving. From 2014 for new drivers there is an absolute ban on drinking alcohol before driving.
